Pioneering aviator Amelia Earhart set off from Harbor Grace, Newfoundland, Canada on May 20, 1932. She arrived in Londonderry, Northern Ireland 15 hours later on May 21, and became the first woman pilot to cross the Atlantic Ocean solo.
