The Ku Klux Klan is the oldest and most infamous hate group in America. The organization has a long history of violence. Black Americans have typically been the Klan's primary target, but they have also attacked Jews, immigrants, members of the LGBTQ community and, until recently, Catholics.

OEA represents about 41,000 educators working in pre-kindergarten through grade 12 public schools and community colleges. OEA’s membership includes licensed teachers and specialists, classified/education support professionals (ESPs), community college faculty, retired educators, and student members.
