Black journalist Ida B. Wells used her newspapers, The Free Speech and Headlight, to document lynching in the South. When a White mob destroyed her Memphis office in 1892 and threatened to harm her, she moved her operation to Chicago where she continued to fight for racial justice and against racial terrorism.
