Anniversary of Trayvon Martin’s murder

In 2013, Martin, a 17 year old Black youth, was walking home and reported by a neighborhood watch person. This resulted in the unarmed youth being shot and killed. The person who killed Martin was exonerated based on Florida’s Stand Your Ground law and protests rose nationwide, serving as a precursor to the Black Lives Matter movement worldwide.
