Anniversary of the Los Angeles Chinatown Massacre

After a police officer was shot and killed, allegedly by a Chinese person, a mob of nearly 500 people attacked and dragged Chinese Americans out of their homes. The police stood by and watched while others in the crowd built gallows, and 18 innocent people were murdered by hanging. It is the largest mass lynching in the United States. Only ten participants in the mob were tried and none went to jail.
