Anniversary of the Execution of Nat Turner

Nat Turner was an enslaved Black man. He was convicted of leading a rebellion of about 75 enslaved people in Southampton, Virginia. 200 Black people and 55 White people died in the revolt. Nat Turner and 16 other men were hanged in a public show of strength by White authorities.
