Bobby Cherry was a member of the Klu Klux Klan. In 1963 he and three other Klansmen bombed the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama. Four young girls were killed. Cherry lived free for 40 years before he was tried and convicted of these murders on this day in 2002. He died two years into his life sentence.
