On this day in 1963, Cynthia Wesley, Carole Robertson and Addie Mae Collins (all 14 years old) and Denise McNair (11 years old) were murdered in the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama. The bombing was an act of terrorism by a Klan related group, and came soon after the 1963 March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom (August 28, 1963).
