One of the largest slave revolts in US history occurred on this date in 1811 in New Orleans led by Charles Deslondes. It included between 300-500 slaves. It ended brutally when the revolutionaries were met by the militia and many of their severed heads were displayed in New Orleans and along the Mississippi.
